About Al Brooks
Before beginning his trading career, Al Brooks was an ophthalmologist with a degree from the University of Chicago. A highly-sought-after speaker who has lectured at major exchanges and trading conferences around the world, Al is also the author of several best-selling books on the topic of price action and technical analysis. While his books are highly rated, they do have a reputation for being a difficult read – we feel that this course does a great job of presenting his material in a format that’s a bit easier to digest.

We really like the fact that all of the video content is so clearly mapped out – Al tells you exactly what he will be covering at the beginning of each video. You can also speed up or slow down the pace of the videos (.5x to 4x) and can mark each lesson as “completed” while working through the content.
Before jumping into a detailed overview of the course content, it’s important to note that there are two versions of Al’s course available: the standard version, and one that is focused specifically on Forex trading. The content covered in both the standard and Forex versions of the course is essentially identical, except for the chart examples used. Also, full English subtitles are available for all videos – Portuguese and Spanish subtitles are currently a work in progress.
Price Action Fundamentals
The introductory section of Al Brooks’ course covers the basics of chart reading and price action. In these videos, Al reviews terminology, candlestick patterns, his trading desk setup, traits of successful traders, the importance of controlling emotions, and market cycles. He also discusses channels, breakouts, trading ranges, support and resistance, trend reversals, exhaustion, and trade management (scaling, protective stop loss orders, etc.).
Depending on one’s experience level, it may be tempting to skip over this introductory section of the course but we strongly recommend that you take the time to work through each of these modules in the order they’re presented. The information contained in this section lays an important foundation for the rest of the course and is time well-spent.
How to Trade Price Action
After laying out the fundamentals, Al Brooks dives into the meat and potatoes of his price action trading system. This exhaustive series of video lessons covers nearly every aspect of day trading price action, including patterns, trading different times of the day, scalping vs. swing trading, and proper risk management.
While there are times throughout this course where things may seem to get a bit repetitive, this is entirely by design. The course is structured in a way that continually reinforces the concepts Al introduces, and as you work through each module, you will begin to see the topic of price action through the lens of a true master.
